Human Psychology: The Fragmentation between Perception and Reality
Understanding the difference between perception and reality.
Dear friends of 10x Club, in this post we go over (probably) the most important and relevant topic in today’s society: perception vs. reality. Human psychology is always (logically) biased towards perception. What you don't perceive, doesn't exist, right? Well, even though that makes sense from the observer's standpoint, it is factually incorrect from a neutral (and macro) standpoint. Reality stretches beyond any perceptional boundaries and understanding that makes you a better trader or investor. How? I will explain in this FREE post.
We’re one of the Most Important Pivots of Capitalism
Today we are at one of the most important pivots for capitalism. The current geopolitical and macroeconomic environment underlines this standpoint. Personally, I think this is very important for everyone to understand, hence why I decided to make this post free to read for everyone. To understand why, please keep on reading.
Our Portfolio is Up 100%!
I know you are here for crypto research and analytics and less so for macroeconomics or geopolitics but they are relevant as never before for the overall market, especially the crypto market. For paid subscribers I share my whole journey of how I build my portfolio and why. This includes a fundamental and technical overview of the projects I invest in. In this post you will get to know a few of them and even though we are still in a tough bear market, our portfolio is up around 100%! If you want to become part of this journey, you can do so for around 100$ a year with the link below:
Perception vs. Reality
The play between perception vs. reality has been relevant since the early days of human society. From religion to politics to science to economy — perception has been a main driver to human prosperity or stagnation.
The ancient empires of the Greek and the Romans were so successful by their means of communication. The word media comes From Latin Mēdia, from Ancient Greek Μηδία (Mēdía), from Μῆδος (Mêdos) and from Mada, the Old Median language self-designator signifying speakers of the Median language. In being able to communicate, they could spread a message to a broad audience and influence people’s perception (or opinion).
It is not for me to say what is right and what is wrong, however, with this post I try to explain why the masses are always wrong and the truth is always more obscure than the mean perception of society “allows”. There’s a great Ted Talk on this topic by Paul Rulkens, have a look if you are interested. A simple example would be the “Earth is flat or round”. Pythagoras' pupils, if not the great man himself, knew that the Earth is round. Traveller's tales of ships disappearing over the horizon and noticing bright stars, such as Polaris, shifting to a higher position in the sky as one journeyed north suggested a curved Earth. With the decay of the Greek empire, this knowledge was lost and it took over a millennium to get to a broad scientific consensus for a spherical Earth.
A practical demonstration of Earth's sphericity was achieved by Ferdinand Magellan and Juan Sebastián Elcano's circumnavigation around 1519–1522. If you would tell an ordinary citizen the world would be spherical in the years or decades prior to that, they would probably ridicule you or compare you to the devil.
The Modern Day Mass Psychosis is Alive as Ever
Even though the above example sounds a bit ridiculous or “old fashioned”, these phenomena are still relevant today and you can bet the bank that today’s science and beliefs will be overhauled within the next 100 years. If not, it would mean we would return to a decayed era of human history like the Middle Ages where science, economy and technology were hard hit by the loss of intelligence and innovation was practically non existent.
Today, we flourish in innovation but one should always be cautious by the ramifications of science and technology becoming too centralised and intertwined with commercial purpose. Isn’t this why crypto and decentralisation got us so excited to begin with?
In this video, I will dive deep into the topics described above, I will go over my portfolio and why it did a 2x, what we could expect from the market going forward and how I position myself for the coming months.
